Jesus said “Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” (Mathew 4;4) In so doing Jesus emphasized the need for “revelation” for our spiritual existence besides bread for our physical sustenance. We are not merely human beings, but spirit filled human beings. So we need revelation for living.

On another occasion, in answer to Jesus’ question Peter replied, “You are Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus was very thrilled with his answer and said, “Flesh and blood has not revealed to you, but my father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church…”. Again notice that Jesus’ plan for building the church was founded on the rock of revelation that Peter had.

In Acts 13: 1-3 as the 5 leaders of the church were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” So the apostolic ministry got launched off by revelation from the Holy Spirit. Of course worshiping, fasting, praying creates the possibility of hearing God and receiving revelation.
Would be to God that we as a church be a people that are living by revelation, planting churches out of revelation and ministering out of revelation. Then you can be sure of what Jesus said, “Lo, I am with you always.”
